Twelve head paintings/monoprints combined and works on paper were made whilst resident artist at the Nirox Foundation, South Africa, October/November 2010. These will be shown as a SMAC Gallery/Nirox collaboration next year in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Nirox is situated in the Gauteng district in the World Heritage site The Cradle of Humankind. Nirox is an open forum and centre for the exchange of ideas and communication on a cross-cultural, inter-disciplinary level. An important component of the Nirox experience is the opportunity to use and participate in its inner-city sister projects; Arts on Main and Main Street Life, at the heart of the Maboneng District, which is rejuvenating the eastern edge of the city of Johannesburg. Artists in residence include Auke de Vries, Willem Boshoff, William Kentridge, Richard Long, Eric Bourret and Enric Pladevall.
